The Jackson City Council will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday to discuss contract options for collecting residential garbage in the city. Garbage has not been collected since an emergency contract with Richard's Disposal Inc. expired on April 1. Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba and the City Council have been locked in legal battles over awarding the city's garbage collection contract for more than a year, with the mayor favoring Richard's and some council members divided over other vendors who also submitted proposals.
